I am a husband and father of two adolescent children.
I migrated into New Zealand from Korea in 1997.
I have worked as a social worker in different fields such as ADHB Starship Community Service, Oranga Tamariki and Mental Health NGO and have been a qualified Family Therapy practitioner and Counsellor since November 2012. When I worked in several social services for last more than 20 years , I have developed a deep desire to work for parents and caregivers, enabling them to become strong enough to provide a healthy environment for their children and help them to be pillars of the family.
Currently, I work at Kia Puāwai/Youth Horizons Trust as a practice leader in First Care Team and, in the past, worked there as a Functional Family Therapist. I am also an accredited provider for Level 4 (Standard Triple P, Triple P Teen, Stepping Stone) and Level 5 (Enhanced Triple P, Pathway Triple P) Triple P Parenting programs.
In addition, I am a full member of Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW), NZ Association of Family Therapy (NZAFT), NZ Association of Counsellors (NZAC), and a registered Social Worker of NZ (Registration No. 2668).
With a strong passion to help families restore their relationships, my desire is to see that children and young people build strong self-esteem and release their potential. I would like to be part of your journey and look forward to working with you in future.
